Oahu is a remarkable island with some of the most stunning backdrops -- you might even recognize them from famous films! The island's diverse landscapes make it a popular spot for filming. With Shaka Guide, we'll take you to a handful of these locations on our Oahu tours. You can pretend to be an extra or the star of the show at any of these Oahu film spots!

Kualoa Ranch

Kualoa Ranch is a private nature reserve located on Oahu's windward side. This 4,000-acre property features both mountain and ocean views. Production companies can use the site to film in the valleys or on the farmland. They can get jungle shots or remote beach scenes -- Kualoa Ranch provides the ultimate canvas! It's such a popular spot for filming, it has a guided Hollywood Movie Sites Tour through the grounds. Here are details about the tour as well as some of the movies that were filmed at Kualoa Ranch.

Jurassic Park

When watching Jurassic Park, did you catch yourself marveling at the vast views and luscious forest? It feels like you're experiencing an entirely different world, right? That’s Kualoa Ranch. While you're there, look out for the fallen tree from the first Jurassic Park movie filmed in 1993.

50 First Dates

50 First Dates is set in Oahu's outback. There are various film locations from the movie around the island, but one of the most important spots is at Kualoa Ranch. It's the site of the Hukilau Café where Henry met Lucy and the Whitmore House where Lucy lived.

Godzilla

While you're exploring Kualoa Ranch, look out for Godzilla's footprints! During filming, the 40-ft footprints were dug a few yards deep to increase the depth and showcase the monster's size. However, after several cattle on the ranch tumbled into these holes, the ranch had to alter the depth. Even though they're slightly different from the ones in the movie, you can still see these enormous footprints!

Lost

There are many scenes from the show Lost that were filmed at Kualoa Ranch, one of the most notable is Hurley’s golf course. During the show, Hurley felt the survivors were becoming too stressed, so he decided to create his own golf course. He built a two-hole, three par course in the valley. Now when visiting Kualoa Ranch, you can see his golf course on the tour!

Turtle Bay Resort

Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu's North Shore is another popular film spot for Hollywood movies. In fact, much of the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall was filmed at the hotel. Peter -- Jason Segel -- gets dumped by his girlfriend Sarah Marshall -- Kristen Bell -- and he flees to a resort where he coincidentally runs into her. The hotel concierge -- Mila Kunis -- lets him stay in the Oprah Suite free of charge. Although there is no real-life Oprah Suite, you can watch the movie before you go and lookout for familiar spots.

Turtle Bay was also featured in Lost, Soul Surfer, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.

Eternity Cove

Also known as Halona Beach Cove or Cockroach Cove, this beach is famous for it's role in the movie From Here to Eternity. It set the stage for the famous kissing scene between Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr’s characters. Although the movies was made in the 1950's, the spot has remained popular with producers and filmmakers. It was featured in a number of movies, such as “Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides,” and “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.”
